Rick Bass Book progress

Post by bassduke49 »

Many of you know that I have been accumulating information and photos to produce a reference book on Rickenbacker basses. Progress has been slow, mostly due to life distractions and my inability to anchor this drifting boat to solid historical information. There have been many folks in the guitar enthusiast/collector community who have helped with pix and facts, but there's still a lot of information that I wish I could land. I've come to the conclusion that the history concerning these instruments may never be fully and accurately known. So I'll press on without complete information, and create the book with what information I have.

I created a sample chapter for the book today, working with iWork and with photos I've taken at Rick Resource Confluences and with a couple of RIC publicity photos. Consider this sample chapter on 4003SPC basses as a draft, especially the text. I expect to have chapters similar to this for every different Rickenbacker bass model. This is intended as a reference and field guide for collectors and players, hence the rather utilitarian appearance. But I want your comments, rants and raves, about the content, layout, and usefulness of this sample chapter.

I'm not able to attach the three-page PDF file here, so what I'll do is e-mail it to any RRF enthusiast who would like to take a look. Call it a teaser, but at least it's free. You'll need to e-mail me and I'll respond with the PDF attached: pboyer2 AT wi.rr DOT com (replace the usual).

So, thanks, RRF team, and fire away!

Nice! :) Why not make it a website on which you can continuously add and change things?

Not much monetary reward for all the time, money, and effort he has invested in this.
