Don't Bring Me Down was one of my faves in 1964 (the year this song was released). I still like it. The fellow that they groomed as their manager Bryan Morrison eventually formed his own agency and in fact a short few years later his agency became managers for Pink Floyd.
Check out the history of The Pretty Things if you get a chance. They have an interesting pedigree and some interesting "famous" friends.

Yeah, great group. They really gave the Gretsch sound a rough edge. Their connection to the Stones is cool. It's too bad that they couldn't break out of their limited success and make it out onto the bigger stage with some of their contemporaries.

Re: The Pretty Things
A few weeks ago I visited the family of my long time friend out of the days of our youth who passed too early in 2003. His son, Alex, gave me some of the very early original LP's and singles of the Pretty Things in near mint condition, what a great gift and a time to remember
Don't Bring Me Down, Buzz The Jerk and all that dynamite stuff, they were out of mainstream.

I share your sentiments Mike.
