Anybody got a kauffman?

Post by 2ricks »

I posted this in the for sale section with no replies. I know this can't be right so I thought I'd ask here
Does anybody have a spare kauffman vibrola?
PM if you do

If you want REALLY vintage, there is this one on ebay now (12/8/10):
Kaufmann Vibrola (vintage!) on ebay 12-8-10
Kaufmann Vibrola (vintage!) on ebay 12-8-10

Otherwise they are pretty rare. I think RIC is the only party that has them - more than one, any way - that they are using for their 325c58 etc. guitars.

Have you thought of pinning it the way Paul does them? Turning it into essentially a trapeze tailpeice.
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

I think they're highly decorative in the right place. (No trash can jokes, please!)

Functionally, as motor-driven steel guitar feature, they're cool. On a guitar, they are lovely hardware, but not so practical. Pinning them turns them into rigid structures. I've got one on my Capri and another on my '56 400. My JG 325C58's hasn't been pinned and holds its tune as long as you don't use it!!!

That kauffman isn't exactly what I'm looking for...
Do any of you guys have one? I'm probably going to pin it anyways so I'm not worried about it being a "terrible system"

Did somebody say Kauffman?

Not on a Rick - but here is my mid-30's Weissenborn Style B, spanish setup, with Kauffman Vib-Rola. Sounds swingin'.

Shout out to Chip at Winfield Village for help with spring and arm.
