...it was quite a mouthful.
I was going to post to it but it was locked.
So, that's why I started this thread.
I purchased a brand new midnight blue 4003 back in April of this year. It's a 2010 March manufactured instrument.
I love it. The reason I got it was because (a) I had read in several places about how nice the new two-piece laminate thin neck was, and (b) I didn't have this color 4003 bass. I had admired the color for some time. Pictures do not do it justice. It's stunning.
I noticed right away that the binding around the body was slightly yellow. The binding on the neck was white. At this time there's been no change. I just looked.
So, my question is, has there been any issues or concerns regarding this 'bleeding' anomaly with recently produced product (last two years)? The finish on mine isn't 'bleeding' onto the binding around the body (it's just a little yellow, cream color actually). I'd like to know if this is a past issue, or one that is still exists on recently manufactured basses.
The bass, btw, is fantastic. I rather liked the chunky neck on the early 2009 models. The thin neck was a pleasant surprise. It's nice to have variety.
Oh, I liked the larger dot markers on the neck binding, too.
