New 360/12 Arrived!

Post by Folkie »

I received my Fireglo 360/12 exactly one week ago from Pick of the Ricks, and I absolutely love the guitar. It has that classic Rickenbacker sound, but it's quite different in many ways from my 330/12. For one thing, it's lighter to hold. For another, it looks classier. And the scatterwound pickups give it a different tone, more trebly and jangly, with less midrange punch. I had my 330 modified to widen the space between individual strings (I know this seems counter to most players' preferences), so it took me a minute to get used to the tight octaves on the 360. Now that I'm used to them, I really like the tight pairs, especially since they free up the fretboard by allowing for more finger room in between pairs. In short, the two guitars have two totally different vibes. On my next recording project I hope to double track with one guitar panned left and the other right, so I can utilize all the advantages of both. By the way, does anyone know of a good folk-rock vocalist in the Cleveland area?

Chris Clayton gave me excellent customer service every step along the way. It's a pleasure to do business with such a true expert!

Glad you're getting on so well with your new 360/12. They're great guitars. I have a suggestion; try experimenting with the Rick-O-Sound capabilities of you guitar. You may find some additional sound sculpting possibilities you'll like.

I'd volunteer for the singer's job, but I'm a long way from Cleveland. Unless you wanna do this long distance via email and .mp3 files.

Jim K,

I wish we lived in the same city, so you could come over my house and lay down some vocal tracks. I recorded one previous CD, and I found I was constantly double-tracking and triple-tracking the vocals in a desperate attempt to smooth out the impurities in my singing voice. I've contemplated taking voice lessons either online or at the Cleveland Institute of Music, although I'm not sure how much good that would do. Should I start a special thread on this forum stating that I'm looking for a vocalist in the Cleveland area. Do you have any idea where I would post it?

As for the Rickosound, I've never heard from anyone who's actually used it. Have you ever experimented with it?

Jeffrey,

One thing that's been conspicuously missing from my recordings is a bass track. Where exactly do you live? Would you be willing to sit in on vocals as well?

Constantly, consistently, and always use it.
Neck PU-->Jangle Box compressor-->Vox AC15
Bridge PU-->DOD Compressor-->Music Man RD110-Fifty

P.S. Voice lessons are always a wise investment. You won't regret it (says the guy who was the voice major in college.)
