Grover tuner repair on a 330

Post by egosheep »

I have a new 330 from '83, that I hopefully will post about later today or tomorrow. :) I replaced the Rotomatics that were installed by a previous owner with the correct era-appropriate Gover Slimlines... the small, boxy, kluson-style Grovers. Everything worked out ok with the conversion bushings, but when I got the guitar back from the local shop that installed them, there were a few issues:

For one, the tuner posts were not all the same height. Some were the same, but a few were shorter, which I found strange. I didn't measure the tuner posts before installation, but I assumed they would all be consistent. Just a little odd.

The bigger problem is, when I was tuning the guitar up after putting new strings on, the back of one of the grovers started coming off. It's the A-string tuner thats doing this. I can push the back cover back on, but if I adjust the tuning it will start to come off again. My question is, until I can find a replacement tuner(not very easy in this case), should I try to superglue and clamp this tuner, to get the back to stay on the tuner fixture?
Great Ramp In My Opinion.
