4003MG w/gold pickguard

Post by NFB-418 »

I'm contemplating swapping out my stock white pickguard for a gold one from Pickguardian. Just wondering if any forumites have done this to their 4003 MG and, if so, could you post pics so I can see the results? Thanks!

Thanks, Kevin. That bass looks great. I guess I need to think about getting a gold TRC, too!

That beautiful MG V63 also has custom gold-plated hardware, not easily noticed in the shots. Yumm!

Gold pickguards look very classy on a 4003 IMO.

and presuming your 4003's trc is the raised letter variety, you can do what i did with my cii's trc,and just spray paint it gold, then use a black sharpie to highlight the lettering-it looks great!

Jay, I had them make me a Vintage Gold/Copper for my '09 4003. I came across a black TRC, so I'm going to a black pickguard instead. If interested, I'll sell it for 1/2 price.

I wonder if you could get a pickguard gold anodized for a 4003... like some P Basses have. They look (and feel) really cool!

Not just black (Jetglo) necessarily. They look killer on a DCM and some other finishes as well. Brian definitely will say that gold pickguards good great on Jetglo. and I'd agree with him.

The nicest gold pickguard on a Ric Bass is actually on my 4003DCM 75th anniversary bass !!!

But, I must admit that the pickguard and gold chrome on that V63 bass is awesome !!!

That gold is nice. Reminiscent of those Rick basses from the 50's that I've seen. Seems if you were able to get the clear acrylic version, you could paint it up any which way. Color the backside and go from there. Anyone know if you can get a clear plexi version? I didn't see it as an option.

Jeff Thomas had this V63 done with gold pickguard and TRC. Beautious!
