Great gesture, although I have never heard of him or Megadeath. I guess I live a sheltered life.

I met Marty once at a Megadeth concert in Osaka back in 1991. He is a really nice guy and he could speak japanese perfectly even back then. We got to meet him because my college roomate Andy was Megadeth's agent and he had put me and my (now ex) wife on the guest list. We also met Dave. He's a nice guy too.

My ex was a big Megadeth fan. That is how we met actually, she had a penpal ad in Kerrangg!!! Magazine in which she described herself as an 18 year old Megadeth fan living near Kyoto Japan. I used to work in a record store where we sold Kerrang!!! so that is how I happened to see her ad. I wrote and told her that my best friend was Megadeth's agent. She was really surprised and sent me this photo of her "smorking" a cigarette with a Megedeth poster in the background.

I've actually heard of Megadeath, but haven't actually ever heard Megadeath, nor have I ever read (or heard of) Kerrang! Hey, here in Montana, most people have hardly heard anything since the Beatles, they all listen to country don'cha know.

Still, it's a very cool thing that Mr. Friedman (of whom I've also never heard) is doing...

I thought it was Kinky Friedman.

A fine and noble gesture on Mr. Friedman's part. Very commendable. 8)

Any Ricks in his collection?

I happen to really like Megadeth!

Dave Mustaine was the original guitarist in Metallica and got kicked out (long story) before the band got really big.

If you were into the Speed Metal of the late '80's and early '90's, I think the big four were Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax.

Some of their most well known songs were "Symphony of Destruction", "99 ways to die", "Hangar 18" and "Angry again".

Speed Metal was pretty big in Japan. It's pretty cool that he's trying to help.

Anyway, Metal history lesson done for today, carry on.......... :)

My friend Andy was Metallica's agent but they fired him at the same time that they kicked Dave out. He used to be an independent agent and some of his other clients were Johny Thunders,Mink Deville,The Proclaimers,Greenday,Sum 41 and Dropkick Murphys .He sold his agency in the 90's and now he works for The Agency Group

I believe that Marty should be commended for this unselfish act. :D

When is his new CD coming out? Just kidding.
