Absolute Faith

Post by superdick2112 »

Here comes # 5. Like my other four Rics, purchased from Wildwood Guitars in Louisville, Colorado, & placed on layaway only minutes ago. This will be the first Ric bass I've ever purchased without having played it before I bought it. I'm working nights this month, so I wouldn't have been able to get up to Wildwood for several weeks, & I don't think it would have lasted that long - they received two Mid Blue 4003s yesterday, and one sold within hours. I have absolute faith that it will be another winner. I know web pix don't count, so I'll post some of my own in a few weeks.

Cool! I didn't know they were even making midnight blues anymore (I thought midnight blue was another victim of the backlog).

You've bought from wildwood before. You know what to expect. I think you'll be fine.

Yep, Midnight Blue (MID) is still an active color. Mapleglo, Fireglo, and Jetglo are evergreen, and for the 4004Cii, you can also get Trans Red, Trans Blue, and Trans Green.

I'm kind of partial to the look of chrome & white trim on the Midnight Blue, but I do lament the loss of the black trim & white finish options, and I would really like to see fretless 4003 basses rolling off the assembly line again.

Hey Richard, did you pay this off yet? I'll go check it out with you if you decide you're on the fence! ;) (Just kidding, I'm sure your faith is solid.)

Oh by the way, my band is playing at Larimer Lounge tomorrow night. I can get you a discounted ticket if you want to come.

Joshua, I'm headed up there today to A/B it with option #2, (one of the mapleglo 4003s) & make sure that it's my best choice.
I'll email you this morning about the gig.

Well, I just got back from test-driving the blue 4003 & several mapleglo 4003 basses, and I'm glad I did. While the blue bass was indeed a very nice one, one of the mapleglo basses was outstanding. It had more sustain, volume and clarity than all the others, and it looked & played better as well.
Long story short, I changed my layaway to this one, and I plan on picking it up on or around my birthday on May 18th.

Congratulations! I know not everyone agrees, but I really like the look of new non-yellowed MG's.
