Just a heads up for anyone interested and not seen it but there's 4003SPC Tux on eBay currently. Not in the finest of condition, but you don't see many for sale!
One thing the seller is incorrect about AFAIK is they say it didn't come with a case new. Surely cases were standard? Especially for a limited edition unit?
I think it should come with a case. The thing that scares me about this auction is the seller's feedback rating. A 91.7% may be a good grade in high school chemistry, but anything less than 99% on eBay sends up a red flag for me.

I agree. But I had a look and it seems to be just one negative over 12 months ago and without knowing the details, it could be a misunderstanding by the buyer.
A friend had his 100% positive rating ruined recently by an utter idiot. Without being biased, I knoew my friend was 100% correct in his dealing and the buyer got it wrong and is just trying to weasel out of buying soemthing he didn't actually want. In the hands of eBay now so who knows.
It's one of the reasons I prefer to buy from an enthusiasts forum such as this. I feel much safer buying or selling as the community spirit is very much a key ingrediant of a good forum... good ol' trust!!
I have been quite fortunate. My one and only purchase from e-bay happened to be from Tony C. Once I had enough posts, I purchased another bass from Erik K. The, "no case came with it when purchased" statement reveals the seller is not as enthusiastic as we are.

Tony C and Erik K are both truly good men of class and honorable character.

Not that I know of. They've been included at least since the 80's. Guitar Center was notorious for splitting up the guitars and cases and selling them separately though.

"Just another brick in their wall." Excuses to PF.
I bought my former '68 4000 new without a case. I just used the Fender PB case of the bass I traded in. I don't know if it was shipped with a case and the dealer split them up.
