Rickenbacker 350v59

Post by octagon »

Was this a regular production model? The only one I have ever seen was owned by the late Doug Fiegler

That looks like a Liverpool (24 frets) that's been "Lennonized."

It would have been much simpler to give the "treatment" to a 350V63 with stock toasters, but Doug must have liked those extra 3 frets . . .

Or maybe he did the mod before the V63s were issued in the miid-'90s. :?:

Either way, it's a cool machine!

Elliot Easton posted this on the VOX Talks Forum in 2001:

"I had wanted a 350V59. I later learned that RIC had made about 7 with just about all of them going to Japan except JH's personal guitar (which now resides at Bebop Burgers)."

Here is a full size photos of Doug's guitar

It was sold on Ebay for $3999.99

"Music Store Live is proud to present this INCREDIBLY RARE 1988 Rickenbacker 350V59 Jetglo Electric Guitar.

Got Sharona? Let us clarify. This black beauty was previously owned by Doug Fieger, lead singer with The Knack, and the man who actually met, fell in love with and dated Sherona, the inspiration for the 1979 hit "My Sherona". If that doesn't set this one apart, how about the fact that there is a populous of 7 of these 350v59'S IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Yes, you will be one of only 7 people in the world with this guitar and the ONLY PERSON in who can say your's was owned by the late great rock legend, Doug Sieger. Smells like every collectors dream to me! Needless to say, this Jetglo has some pretty great mojo on it. As if that wasn't good enough, it just also happens to be in excellent condition. The deep black finish and anodized gold pickguard are in near flawless condition. Three toaster pickups and a Bigsby tremolo are waiting to deliver all the pop jangle you can dream up. Plays smooth up and down and intonation is spot on. Plug in and go. Wait one more second and this once in a lifetime beauty will slip from your grasp.

Special Features:

1988 Rickenbacker 350V59
Finish in Excellent condition
Previously owned by Doug Fieger of The Knack.
Three Toaster pickups
Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece
Anodized Gold pickguard
Plays and sounds terrific!
Warranty card in HSC
7 lbs 8 oz

Serial # A1 9865 "

It's very cool. :D

I assume the "JH" refers to John Hall? Where is "Be Bop burgers?" Is the guitar still on loan there? Interesting. . . . the "Rick-O-smell" has likely bee replaced by the scent of burgers by now. . . :D

This hits home with me this week... I'm writing and recording a new song. I charted out a somewhat complicated guitar duet for the bridge, carefully working out the harmonies note for note, and then realized I needed a high Eb... thus a 23rd fret. And I don't have a 6 string with 24 frets! :( :?: So I had to  play the whole thing down an octave! :(

The one at Be Bop was MG, I believe. Be Bop was in Santa Barbara, and has been gone for years.

This music store needs to get their facts straight...the guard is acrylic, painted gold, NOT "anodized aluminum.

Gorgeous guitar and a great price IMO.

Can you do a false harmonic, or is the part too complex to get that in in time (or out of time, for that matter  ).
