Thanks, Werner! Great clip of the Byrds circa 1968!

Interesting little clip. Early Clarence White, John York on bass, Roger looks like he's in a military uniform and the dance moves in the audience are nothing less than spastic.
So you want to be a rock n' roll star . . .

Typical of the era, Ron. The epaulets on McGuinn's jacket were quite popular and considered quite mod. And the dance movements reflected the "do your own thing" attitude of the times.

Who was drumming?
Re: classic
There's a pretty good profile shot of the drummer at about 1:45. Don't recognize him, though. Have to hit the books on that one.fatcat wrote:Who was drumming?
Re: classic
According to wikipedia (and we all know how accurate that can be), during 1968 both Kevin Kelly and Gene Parsons played drums...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: classic
Gene Parsons. Both he and Clarence still had the "Dr. Byrds" pre-facial hair look.fatcat wrote:Who was drumming?
You can also tell it's Gene because: 1) the quick stutter-step roll at :25 — classic Gene Parsons drumming; and 2) you get a glimpse of the timbale that Gene favored over the standard mounted tom-tom. Gene was the only Byrds drummer I'm aware of who used timbales in their trap set.
