Question from a 1st time Ric owner and poster!

Post by shaun126 »

Hey guys, I just purchased my first Ric, thought I would introduce myself to the forum.

I have never played with the ric-o-sound before, I was wondering if anyone uses or recommends one of these.

Or should I just bite the bullet and overpay for a ric-o-source box?

Welcome, Shaun! :D

Get the POTR cable, that is perfect, and Chris is a great guy to deal with. 8)

Which brings up another question. Is that cable from POTR better than this one from Hosa?

I like the connectors on the POTR cable much better than the molded connectors on the Hosa, IMHO.

Very nice! As an REM fan, a JG 360 is hard to beat.

In terms of the cable, I have no actual experience using Rick-o-Sound but I did do a bunch of internet research on this issue a few months ago when I was considering buying a cable (I ultimately decided not to bother because I was unlikely to use it very much). The consensus seemed to be that there is no real advantage to the Rick-o-Sound box over a cable, and that any good quality cable will work fine. I'd probably go with the POTR cable, but people who have the Hosa seem perfectly happy with it, too.

I might try to see if I can find a longer Hosa cable to try it out...I'm not sure how much I will even use it.

If it is something I really like, then I would probably drop the coin for the pick of the ricks cable.

Thanks all!

Years ago I built a stereo splitter box for my Rick 365 based on the one Gretsch sent me for my White Falcon Stereo. All you need is a small aluminum project box from Radio Shack, one binaural and two monaural Switchcraft jacks. You could even ace the binaural jack and solder the chord directly in like Rickenbacker's "Rick-O-Sound" cord (you'd need a cord strain relief grommet.) I'd built several of these for friends for their stereo guitars. It's a fun, east 10 minute project!

Jim, my experience with Hosa cables is they are not as good as the money you pay for them.....
