Two New Videos Uploaded

Post by mcd220 »

Hey Guys-

Couple more vids uploaded today!

First up, is the band's first (Out of four) lip synched appearances from "Where the action is":

The Byrds-"I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better"-7/7/65
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wexouRIHXJw

Still looking for "MTM" from the same day...

And next, is this really cool (But all too brief!) interview with Gene Clark from, I think, 1984 (Feel free to hollar at me if the date is wrong, and I'll fix that):

"Gene Clark Interview"-1984

This video is really heartwarming to me, as it shows Gene in such wonderful form; he looks and sounds great! He confirms the Brian Jones connection to "Eight Miles High" as well.

Something that has really struck me in quite a profound way, in the past few years after meeting and getting to know so many of you, is just how much Gene is loved by his fans...THAT rocks.

MANY THANKS to Catherine Toohey for making the Geno video happen.

So, we have now a total of 90 Byrds & related vids up, all of them in chronological order, and terrible quality. :-)

It's actually quite enjoyable to start at the very beginning of the playlist, with Roger & The Chad Mitchell trio, Geno with the Christies, just let it run, and you can see their career unfold right in front of you.

I can say without reservation, it has been a labour of love putting this altogether.

But wait...there's MORE!

Still available for free download, is the complete collection of Byrds articles from the entire run of "KRLA Beat Newspaper".

I personally cut out and restored each and every one, and again, these are assembled in chronological order:

So far, no cigar still for anything from "The Lloyd Thaxton Show", or "Ready, Steady Go!"...

Let's hope for an official release someday, but I do believe that some of the Thaxton shows have been destroyed. Pity, as The Byrds were on four times, and their TV debut was on this show as well, just mere days before the 1st "Hullabaloo" & "Shivaree" performances.

Enjoy!

Christian

Hey Chris, do you think that Feel A Whole Lot Better clip was dubbed, or live? It sounds remarkably like the recording. But I distinctly saw Roger's guitar cord, and what I think may have been his amp. But I couldn't see whether Crosby or Hillman were hooked up or not.

P.S. Thanks for the links, esp. the interview with Geno.

Oh yeah, that's a lip synch...some old shows, the guitars have leads attached to make it look good. :D
