Just to introduce myself (first post)

Post by David Watts »

Hello everybody,
This is my first post here though i've been following this board for quite a long time with great interest.

I live in France, am 47 and love Rickenbacker guitars since i was a kid listening to the Beatles.
I had my first Ric as soon as i've been able to get my hands on any of them, and had the money of course.
It was in 1986, a 320 JG that i had to sold in 1992 to get my '90 330 FG (my main guitar since).
I also have a '92 620/12 JG.

Like many of you here, i'm a fan of 60's rock music, but also TP&Heartbreakers, REM (since the beginning !), Weller & The Jam, The Smiths, etc.

So i'm glad to be here and to introduce me and my trusty Rickenbacker beauties :)

Welcome to the RRF! Nice Ricks you have there! What's the 6 string banjo-like instrument in the background of the last picture?
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Welcome David! That FG is just beautiful, and I'm a MG-type guy.

That, my friends, is a banjo-guitar. I've seen one of two of them around Lawrence.

Welcome to the RRF, David.

Yes, I've seen pictures of 'em too. I guess I didn't quite ask the right question. I was also wondering what brand, etc. it was...

Welcome to the Forum! Both guitars are really nice, and the natural ambering on the 330 is truly gorgeous. 8)

BTW, let us know whether we should call you David or Didier ... or either one works fine!

Thank you all. Your warm welcome is really nice.

CJJ, it's a Almirez Banjo-guitar, made in Korea i think.
It was a gift from my wife for my 30st birthday, as well as the Stagg mandolin for my 40.
I've told her that, for my 50, i want nothing else but a Martin.
(Though i also would like to add a 360 to my arsenal one of these days)

And you can call me Didier, no problem. That's my first name.

As you may know David Watts is a song from one of my all times favourite band.
It seems that Scotty knows the words of the song. :)

That Jet-glo 12 string is absolutely beautiful... and welcome to the forum. Lots of great people here.
