Beatles Zombie Movie?!
Upcoming Beatles Zombie Movie: http://www.spinner.com/2010/05/11/beatl ... e_facebook
Nuts!
Clarification: This movie is about the Beatles becoming undead, flesh-eating zombies, not becoming the British Pop group the Zombies. Just wanted to get that straight. the plot as described is pretty weak, IMO.
Based on an illustrated novel by American author Alan Goldsher, the film will be called 'Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion.'
Movie company Double Feature has bought the rights to the film. Its previous credits include 'Erin Brockovich' and 'Pulp Fiction'.
In the book, zombie John Lennon murders the other three Beatles, who then come back to life as zombies and nourish themselves on
the brains of fans, while trying to avoid the clutches of archenemy zombie killer Mick Jagger.
IMO, it's a dumb idea for a movie; and it's incomplete; how does JL become a zombie? Bad LSD?! Fungus-infested pot?! Electrocution from a poorly-earthed AC30?! A bite from an undead female zombie fan during a post-gig liasion?! Answers! Answers!
Hmm, if Jagger is the "zombie-killer" then the author is obviously a big Stones' fan; he's definitely on the Stones side of the "Beatles or Stones fan" thingy. . .

Re: Beatles Zombie Movie?!
I started reading the book during a lull in student reading this past spring and what I was able to read before things got too hectic again was ok. It wasn't all that funny, but I didn't stick with it for too long before being back in the land of Gatsby and Holden Caulfield. At any rate, I'd seen that zombie clip before and thought that it was well done, but the book seems like it's trying too hard.

So, does the book explain how Lennon becomes a zombie in the first place? Just curious.lennon211 wrote:I started reading the book during a lull in student reading this past spring and what I was able to read before things got too hectic again was ok. Lennon became a zombie right after he met Yoko.

Re: Beatles Zombie Movie?!
The book attempts to create its own zombie mythos, veering away from what most of us are familiar with on a pop-culture level, which is the traditional George Romero, Night of the Living Dead zombie: walks or runs, attacks living humans indiscrimately, rots as it continues "living" and usually congregates around houses, malls, and survivor bases until a critical mass is reached and they can stumble on in. In the book, the zombies arrived in Liverpool during the slave trade and behaved in a very different way, retaining aspects of conscious thought. In this way, the zombies are more akin to vampires. Lennon is zombiefied shortly after his birth and that's about where I put the book down. I'll pick it back up sometime this fall once I've gotten the writing projects working for my students and I have time again to read independently. I don't have tremendously high hopes for the book as it really seems to be making a strong effort at losing its core audiences with a lot of contrived material early on to be able to achieve the punchline later. It works very hard at emulating the oral history structure of Max Brooks' brilliant World War Z. It could be a fun read a chapter or two on, but it has none of the true fun or care of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which I do highly recommend.

It's easy for people to always blame Yoko - they're just afraid to blame John himself, who is the one to blame.beatbyrd wrote:Lennon became a zombie right after he met Yoko.
Will any of the zombies be played by a certain mr. Richards? Mick Jagger could even play himself

I think TKK should do this.
We could do this back to back with this (which we used to do, but no audience ever got it.
)!
