Turquoise - well I never...

Post by Trav »

I never understood why this colour was even liked, as in photographs it always looked odd to me and nothing special I thought. After all these years I should know better. Yesterday I go into my local vintage & rare guitar peddlar and see a 330 Turq in the flesh and BAM what a beautiful colour......Hmm, that's got the RAS going again!! 8)

Travis: I quite agree, a stunning colour.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I saw Jerry Juden's 660/12 TUR at SCARF last year...an awesome looking Ric, I hope I meet it again in two weeks.

It's gotta be my favorite solid color. Especially on a Combo 800 or 850. 8)
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

I bought mine by accident, it was the only color they had at the time.

I was never a fan. But I loved Sea Green, so what do I know.

TUR is a really cool finish...too bad it usually looks not-so-cool in photographs!

Turquoise looks stunning on the instrument, not so great in photos. Don't firm up your judgement until you see one in person.

It really all depends on the lighting. This is a simulation, but you'll get the idea. This is my 4004Cii (used to be a 4004L) in Turq with the color balance shifted between a "cool" representation (bluer) and a warm version (greener). Turquoise looks blue green in daylight, but forest green in artificial light.

Agreed. Not keen in photos, but really liked it in the "flesh". :D

Another tough one to represent in photos is azureglo. My understanding is that it is the same colour as the solid blue pool ball.

Actually, Azureglo varied quite a bit from a bright medium blue, to a duller blue with a hint of green, to almost Navy blue. Midnight Blue has also varied a lot over the years.

I used to think the same way, when I'd only seen Turquoise Ricks in pictures. Then I saw one in person for the first time and I couldn't believe how quickly my thoughts changed about it. It's one of my favorite RIC finishes now.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

They are a tough one to photograph. I bought a refinished '69 365 O.S. this year by our own Paul W. that's right in the middle of azure blue and turquoise- what a gorgeous finish! If I could only figure out how to post a picture!

Chuck, if you're having trouble posting a pic, email it to me. I'll be happy to post it for you.
