Family Portrait

Post by 8mileshigher »

Decided to take a couple of group shots to welcome this Console Steel to the family. Although with the size of the console, I haven't figured out the best arrangement for posing the instruments ... :?

Cool collection, Rich. I've seen four out of the six instruments. The 660/12 made me realize how cool that model of guitar really is again. As I've said before, the 480 has pickups so hot, they can cut through bricks. And of course, I know how much you love your 370/6 WB, it's your main instrument. Overall, an awesome collection I'm glad you photographed. :)

You need to bring that steel to the next SCARF (so I can play it).

Shhh-h-h-h-h right now this latest acquisition isn't "sitting" so well with the Mrs. ....

What happened was, foolish me, how was I to know that less than a week after I scored a Mesa Boogie amp on Craig's List, that out of the blue, this long-forgotten Steel guitar seller was going to recontact me and offer a deal that could not be turned down ? Lesson learned --- to keep peace at home, don't buy any other gear if there is a remote chance a Ric deal you were negotiating in prior months, still might come through.

Thanks Jake, glad you like the family picture. Yep, you described those 480 early model High Gains to a tee ! It's hot !

So you play steel guitar Rich? If so, I might have to enlist your help on a future project. Congrats on the acquisition. In the right set of hands they sound absolutely fabulous. I notice that Jim plays too. My chances of obtaining the track that I need have just doubled. :D

I play a little, Brian. I'm no Sneaky Pete Kleinow, though.

I saw him with The Flying Burrito Brothers in 1968 just after the band formed I believe. What a great steel player.

Brian --- can't help you at this stage. :( I'm just learning this from the ground up. But if any of our mutual friends want to use the steel to dub some tracks for you - they are welcome to.

Thanks Rich. I am in no hurry. I need to get my recording gear up and running (don't ask..........it's a painful subject) again in any event. Plus I still need to finalize an arrangement for the song that I want the track for. See..............no pressure.
