Later with Jools Holland

Post by bartyclue »

This is a great show. I have been exposed to so many new artists through it. Just about... everyone has been on it during the last 15 years. probably the best music show I have ever watched. The variety of artists is impressive as well. Now if only Yes would stop by the studio...

Heres a band called Snow Patrol. Only one RIC in this one but the guitar player plays one as well from time to time.

You make it sound like you never heard of Snow Patrol  I remember seeing them open for U2 and they came on with 360 JG and bass in JG (one day I will actually know which bass is called what, they all look alike to me  ).

Kasabian on Later... with the Son of Catweazle playing a 481

Some years ago I was speaking with a friend while on the floor at the Frankfurt Musik Messe. A fellow came up and slapped my friend on the back and they proceeded to act like long lost brothers, catching up on old times, etc. I was introduced but guess I wasn't paying attention as the small talk went on. He ended up hanging around the booth discussing guitars with me for awhile, a very nice fellow to chat with.

Anyway, later that day, I asked my buddy his friend's name again. He said, "That was Jools Holland . . . he has a TV show . . ."

I wish to be re-incarnated as you.

...I think a lot of people in the UK would say this is just about the last TV music show worth watching here. Great performances, all live, and consistently high production values over many years now. This clip is one of my personal favourites, just an amazing debut performance:

Ohh, I remember that one as well! Still great to watch her do that!

Jools Hootenanny is the only programme worth watching during the old year / new year celebrations!

That's right - for me the stand out performance last year was Cee Lo Green's superb Jackie Wilson tribute....just wonderful :D

It's a good program, and boy do we need it here in the UK, but for goodness sake don't let Jools play on your songs, he'd even play Boogie Woogie piano on Leonard Cohen songs....

Right after I got HD service from Dish Network I could watch Later with Jools Holland on a channel called Rave. It was a music channel that played a great variety of music and styles. The channel was dropped from the lineup about a year later. I thought it was a really good show.

I always liked the Squeeze stuff he was involved with but he does seem a bit Boogie -Woogie crazy now!

Still a great talent though :) and I do like the way his TV programme showcases new talent along with established acts. 8)
