As some of you might know, I run two Trace Elliot Stacks, independently amped and EQ'd. Linking them satisfactorily has always been an issue, especially in certain venues. I've always had to contend with unwanted interference, earth hum and other problems that sometimes make the whole thing sound sub par. I've tried many different ways around the issues, but some of the solutions added degrees of complexity that were almost as bad as the issue that I was dealing with.
So, after doing a bit of research and talking to a few people, I started using this little item. It's a Lehle P-Split. In the picture, I have it out, but it sits out of sight in the amp flight case behind the rack, pugged into the radio unit. It exactly what I wanted, as the whole stomp box splitter route was a pain, what with the batteries, lines and extra stuff that had to go with it. It's completely passive, and best of all, there no signal loss at all detectable when it's in use. It has a 180 phase option and a ground isolation switch, and for the first time since I've had this setup, I'm able to eq and run the amps just as I want to. In fact, when I first hooked it up, I though it was broken until I touched the bass and heard it, it was that quiet. I'd forgotten how used to hum and interference I'd become.
It's a little spendy at around $200, but I couldn't have wished for a more simple and elegant solution. I'll set it up at the next confluence in NorCal for people to try.....

Re: Lehle P-Split
Nice, Gareth.
I know that Whirlwind makes line level splitters, I take it this is designed to work at instrument level?
Re: Lehle P-Split
Yep. That's one of the many nice things about it. You plug the instrument directly into in and it takes the signal from there. No loss at all it seems.
The basses really growl when you switch it into 180 phase.....

Lehle makes some great stuff, but they sure don't give it away!
