NEWBY

Post by bluegrassmoker »

Hello I am a new poster was a long time associate of the banjo hangout and I wanted to acquaint my self with this forum because I recently acquired a 4001 bass from a friend. I am also wanted to purchase a Ric Bantar because I love making fusion instruments and mainly anything resembling a banjo. I have a website with some pics at sundlofengineering.com but I want to get this bantar more than that el camino i also want to purchase..... I have seen one on ebay for 3500 but i was wondering if anyone new more about these and if there was one in the Chicago-land area.....I loved this instrument the first days i saw it with bela fleck at the auditorium theater in Chicago when they played their Christmas album he always know just when to pull out his fancy instruments like its nothing at all. I was on the other hand pissing my pants asking all my friend whats that I never seen that wheres it from is it a banjo????? Any way i thought more of a knowledgeable ric fans would understand this instrument more than I please tell me everything I know they started in 67 maybe then they stopped production????

Welcome aboard. Congrats on the 4001.

And, as if on cue, right on one of the FB Ric groups...

Welcome, Patrick.

Oddly enough, IIRC there was a Bantar for sale at a Chicago-area music store 10-15 years ago ... it was bought by a fellow Forum member, as I recall. Also, one of the two Bantars listed in the Register is located in Illinois.

There is a little background information here:

Welcome Patrick,

The one at Ebay is only the second one I can ever recall being for sale.

Just for anyone else who wants to check it out.

Stick around, I'm sure our resident experts will be around to shed some more information soon.

Welcome from one newbie to another. I'd rather have my ears burning than my Bantar burning...
