Rickenbacker Owners Must Root For The Giants In Super Bowl

Post by Tommy »

If you love Rickenbackers you must root for the Giants. Here's why:
The Rickenbacker Midnight Blue is the same color as the NY Giants Big Blue helmet.

LET'S GO GIANTS!

If you love Gretsch pickguards you must root for the Patriots.

Booooo!

Hope for the first ever tie?

Man, that's some headstock for this Super Bowl. I'd definitely take that out on Super Bowl Sunday and play that sucker. Heck, that thing should be in one of the Super Bowl commercials. Rickenbacker should spend four million dollars for a thirty second commercial featuring that headstock.

Interesting side note here. I wonder why a guitar company does not advertise on a huge program like the Super Bowl. Can you imagine if Rickenbacker put together a magical thirty second commercial that played during the Super Bowl. John on Ed Sullivan didn't reach as many people as the Super Bowl does and look what "The Ed Sullivan Show" did for Rickenbacker. Oh, it would be cool to see a Rickenbacker commercial during the Super Bowl.

And RIC was just starting to make some headway on the backlog situation too...

As a loyal Pats fan, I'm hoping that Tom Brady has a hall of fame day..... I read that the loss 4 years ago still grates him to the point where he can't watch the tapes.

CJ, that headstock looks pretty patriotic to me.

Great, now I have to face the wrath of a certain goombah or two who are almost certainly Giants fans.....
It's a Byrd, it's a playin'..........

My first thought was of a certain local SoCal NYG fan, but yeah, I guess you're in that club too!!!!!!
I can't help it..... I was born in Boston. I thought the BASEBALL rivalry was the big one.

Well, it was! But I think you can make the case that the Pats now have a bona fide rivalry with both the Jets and the Giants.

I watch the Super Bowl because we buy squares at the party. I don't care who wins just as long as my squares come in.

Chargers fans will never root for whatever team Eli Manning is playing for!

Well, Cowboys do tend to go to Rodeos, so I guess it's appropriate...

Funny that you mention guitars in team colours - I have been idly wondering about building a Detroit Lions-themed Strat copy or Telecaster copy (yes, I'm a Lions fan... and pretty thrilled with the 2011 - 2012 season, as you can imagine!) - body in silver, with an ebony fretboard with the little blue lion logo outlined in white for the fretmarkers, and a big blue lion on the front of the body! The only thing holding me back is my lack on inlaying/marquetry skills - those little lion fretmarkers would be tricky!

Still, a cool idea, and it makes me smile - do you think I should go for it?

Enjoy the game, one and all! :D
