I found this Hofner Senator E1 at a local store today for $200. It's the same model guitar Jeff Beck smashed in the movie "Blow-Up".

What a deal! Congrats Mitch!

Thanks Tony! I wrote to Musik Keller in Germany and they just emailed me back that they have 2 NOS pickguards for this guitar in stock: a "mother of toilet seat" and a tortoise shell. I ordered the tort because that is what is on the "Blow-Up" guitar.
Re: Hofner Senator E1 The Jeff Beck "Blow-Up" guitar
I got my pickguard from Musikkeller. It is a dark MOT. I misunderstood when I ordered it Norbert had told me he had 2 1964 pickguards. He asked if I wanted the light or dark and I said "dark" assuming it was tort. No big deal,I like this one better. Also he found a a Hofner 511 pickup for me,I told me this is the pickup the guiar would come with in 1964.
Monday I should get the Selmer "Croc Skin"Little giant amp I ordered from Guitar Center to go with the Hofner.

Crazy! I haven't seen that in years. Apparently the director saw Pete Townshend smash a guitar, couldn't get the Who to do the movie, so he hired the Yardbirds to break up a guitar, and Hofner donated the guitars to be smashed! That's quite a period piece--it's from that brief period when Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were both in the band together. Notice that Page is playing a Telecaster, and of course he doesn't come close to putting it in harm's way. Seems like the sole reason for the band's being in the movie was to smash a guitar, and they weren't even known for that!
