cool article on 4001s/1999 in Vintage Guitar magazine

Post by Sir Ricardo »

Here are links to the two pages. You'll need to zoom in to see the text, but the photos are high-resolution and should be readable.

Enjoy!

Moderator edit: If the links to the pictures are the copyright of a magazine as explained in a later post, they should not be posted here!

I'm sure to cause some disagreement here, but as a retired journalist and current book author, I don't like to see that someone is posting links to photos of copyrighted material. I assume this is a current magazine and this action amounts to stealing from the article's author and magazine's publisher. These folks make a living at this. Moderators, please pull this thread!

Paul, if you feel this strongly just send me a PM in the future. I have no desire to ruffle anyone's feathers. I just deleted the photos.

For those who are interested in the article, it is in the current issue of VG - - - May 2012. It is short, 2 pages, but pretty interesting, both in terms of the discussion of the Ric basses, and the players (McCartney, Squire, et. al.) who played them.

The Way Back Beat is a great column in VG. I believe this is a two-parter on the 4001, first part was last issue.

Love that magazine!

+1! Best musician magazine out there. TWBB has had some fantastic articles in the past, too, such as the 7 part column on Epiphone, recently.

The Epiphone stuff was really cool. I love that 3-part spread they did on what guitar a kid in 1966 could buy with $150. And the one on the '60s import companies in England like RM was great too!
