Why do Blue Boys turn Green and White Ricks turn Yellow?
Why do Blue Boy Ricks turn green and White Ricks turn Yellow? Is it ALL related to the sun exposure? Can temperature changes do this?

Also Silver Rickenbackers turn green. The clear coat yellows. Blue and yellow makes green, for example, and so forth.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

My V64 turned yellow after treatment with cigarette smoke for 8 years.
I quit smoking three years ago, cleaned the guitar a few times with the advised product, and now it's in bright sunlight every day.
It is now less yellow than it was before.

IF you live in Belgium, which I'm guessing you do, how does your guitar get bright sunlight everyday!

Welcome to the joys of conversion varnish topcoat. Even JG gets hazy over time. OTOH, it turned my standard FG 360-12WB ckbd into a "natural" almost "amberglo." Oh, yeah! (Could this be one reason that FG has always been a favorite color amongst all of us aficionados?!)

And, in my opinion, it looks fantastic on Mapleglo...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

So, father time causes the top coat to turn yellow? Anyway to prevent it?

Love the Carbonite suggestion.

An additional bit of yellowing comes from the scenescent lenticular yellowing associated with the aging eye.

Gee, thanks, Peter. I needed to be reminded that I'm getting old.admin wrote:An additional bit of yellowing comes from the scenescent lenticular yellowing associated with the aging eye.

Yeah, thanks a bunch!

But I suppose there's another way to think about this. Since the eye starts making everything appear yellowed, we'll eventually get used to things having a yellow cast, so we'll probably adjust to it and think the guitars are returning to their original colors...
Or maybe not...
