On May 20 at the age of 96, the death was quietly announced of the man who was responsible for inventing arguably, the greatest labour saving device of the 20th Century. Over the decades his idea has saved us – and will continue to save us - the trouble of walking distances that during a lifetime would add to literally hundreds of miles.
From the comfort of my armchair I give eternal thanks to that Great American, Mr EUGENE POLLEY – inventor of the TV wireless remote control

The passing of a truly great inventor
I guess Mr. Polley is the patriarch, or patron-saint of us couch potatoes ?

Re: The passing of a truly great inventor
Well, actually, he mostly saved kids all of that walking. That's the sort of "remote" we had when I was a kid, "Hey, one of you kids go change the channel to..."

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
