1988 Walnut

Post by bassman7365 »

Was just looking in the register and came across a 4001 Walnut bass built in 1988. I'm not an expert, but this appears to be way past the date of the last of the 4001's. Different serial # too, A11111. Anyone know of the history of this instrument?

I just checked it out...it's got the skunk stripe in the neck, which makes it pre-'85. And the photo of the jackplate shows no serial number...also looks to have the elusive pinstripe binding on the body (white inside, black outside).

Maybe just a typo when entered into the registry, something like that. The serial number(A11111) could be a placeholder as it has none.

Now that I think about it I swear this one has been discussed before...
