Crushed pearl source!!

Post by dminer »

Well, I picked up my checkerboard binding from Larry Davis yesterday (nice guy by the way)and while talking he told me about a source for the famous crushed pearl inlay material, so, I thought I'd pass it on here. Apparently this was discussed on another thread here somewhere in the forum, but, if a lot of you bass thread readers are like me, you don't check the other catagories very often. He said that it'd expensive but that a $90 piece is enough to do 3 fretboards and that's with using 2 pieces glued together (it;s very thin)...Anyway, here's the link----
The link for the crushed pearl is http://www.rescuepearl.com/, click on "Laminated Shell", and it's called "Sparkle MOP". If you want to see a sample, click on the "View Sample Sheets" in the box above the table. It's the third one down in the middle column. It's actually a lot livelier in person -

We've had some samples of this and it's pretty stuff. Unfortunately, it's noticeably different than the original material in appearance. But it's certainly better than some materials we've seen that people insist "is just like the original".
