Midnight Blue query . . .
. . . anyone have an example to show whether some early ones were painted translucent blue over silver the way early Rubies were (translucent red over silver -- in effect, a "candy" color)? Or were they always a metallic blue? Need to document this. Thanks!

The earliest Midnite, Turquoise and Ruby all used the same silver base coat, followed by a transparent color coat.
Eventually, the switch was made to a silica based solid color coat that had a similar metallic appearance. Desert Gold was also of this variety and never made with a silver base coat.
