Cool song, and an oh so tasty looking 381! Also, the 381 sounds great! A 381 is a holy grail guitar for me. It's too bad that they go for way more than I can afford. Thanks for sharing this. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Quite a nice assortment of cool guitars on those clips. (altho i am not a fan of that color on the Jazz bass.) That 381 is incredible, just a work of art, really.

Nice to see Jeff finally getting into Ricks. The 381 sounds great there. Note the odd D9 tuning - D-A-D-F#-D-E.

I'm with Ellen.
I haven't tried to figure it out, but if you're right about the tuning, then I think it would actually be a D(add9) as there's no C. 9th chords contain a flatted 7th - add9 chords don't.
Uncle Tupelo actually used Ricks a good bit in their early days. I know Farrar played at least one Rick a bunch around the days of No Depression - (a 425, maybe, or combo 400, or a 600-model?). Not positive, but knowing his penchant for old reliable industry-standard instruments, I'd guess Tweedy used a 4001 or 4003 some then, too.
But yeah - wow, what a gorgeous 381. Wish I could obtain one; alas, it's not to be as I have to feed my kids.

Hmmm I didn't know that Tweedyy and Farrar played Rics during Uncle Tupelo's early days. I've always seen photos of them playing SGs or Teles. But, sure enough.
Here's Farrar playing a 425 during their first TV apperance, back in 1989:

IIRC, the photo insert of No Depression may have even had a picture of a Rick. Could be wrong, though.

Re: Wilco on Fallon
when I saw Wilco in July Jeff Tweedy used (I think 2 rics) and of those two, he used them for quite a bunch of songs.
