Favorite dirt pedal with Ric

Post by Rick330Brew »

What's your favorite dirt pedal to pair with a Rickenbacker? I only have a modded Rat and a Fulltone Soul Bender, but I'm interested in finding something that really sounds good with my 330. I really like how my Vox AC15C1 sounds with the gain turned up.

Currently, I've been enjoying the Way Huge Red Llama. Gets a nice fat sound with no loss of low end and plenty of note definition. When the Llama is used for a rhythm sound, I use an Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer for a solo boost.

Seriously? Just the two of us using dirt pedals? Anyone else?

Including basses? I kind of gab a lot at first so maybe skip ahead to 2:20 or so to get me to be quiet.

Seymour Duncan TweakFuzz is my go to,but I occasionally use the Fuzz or Distortion on my Electro Harmonix Holy Stain.I just got an Electro Harmonix NanoMuff for Christmas and that's been getting a lot of use. I also have a Boss FDR1 but I use that primarily for the Reverb and Vibrato it offers, although the overdrive is nice for what it is.

The bandmate to whom I sold my 1st 4003 uses a Roger Mayer "Stone Fuzz," and it sounds pretty great through his Eden Metro.

Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer or Boss OD-1 into an Electro Harmonix Big Muff.

I've got a Joyo Ultimate Drive - an OCD clone - into an old AC-30. It took a little bit of effort to get it to it's sweet spot (8 o'clock gain, 9 o'clock level and 1 o'clock on tone) but now I'm there its a lovely pedal.

Cheers

Tech 21 VT pedal gets me everything from warm mellow tube creaminess to full on nasty boogie fuzz.

Boss DS-1, the cheap, orange one. Laugh if you want, it works for me.

Recently loaned out both of my proper bass rigs, so I set this up as The T'ird T'ing:

Leslie 825 with Tech 21 VT and Holy Grail Plus Reverb

Fender Twin Reject '65 RI with Tech 21 Liverpool

Used my '85 4003 MG BT strung with Fender flats, all knobs dimed except treble volume rolled back a scoach.

On Rick-O-Sound, with bass p/u to the Leslie and treble p/u to the Evil Twin. Kinda FUN!

I just bought a Tech 21 Bass Fuzz pedal to add to the stew. I'm thinkin' to the Twin . . .

Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .
