More book news
The Hal Leonard Performing Arts Publishing Group publisher, John Cerullo, was in town today, visiting from his office in Montclair, New Jersey. He was kind enough to meet with me for breakfast before his scheduled sales meetings at the HL home office here in Milwaukee. Great fellow. I handed him a spanking new color printout of the book with all corrections incorporated. Thanks, Jeff Scott, John Biscuti, John Hall, and the publisher's Carol Flannery for your eagle (and legal) eyes!
John was very impressed with the book, and made a lot of warm, cooing sounds as he went through it. He had already seen the book in pdf format, but he said it's always more impressive to see an effort like this in paper. John told me there is already a lot of buzz about the book both from the company's sales people and with some of the large book chains. He told me that he couldn't believe that there hasn't been a book on Rick basses before this, and he's really looking forward to its release. Me, too.
I was under the impression that the book would be under the Backbeat Books imprint, but it will be under the main label, Hal Leonard Books. John said that the distinctions between the brands is complicated, but HL owns the BB line. The BB line apparently was the creation of Tony Bacon and his partner (name escapes me), so all of Tony's books (and those of others) are BB. John said it won't have any effect on the marketing.
Next is electronically arranging all the individual chapter files into an organized book, renaming each chapter file and gathering all the photo files into one folder . . . lot's of mechanical stuff that must be done in prep for the actual printing. Still on schedule and looking at the July release date.

Great news Paul. It will be Christmas in July around here and my house. My son and his fiance got it for me as a Christmas present.

When and where's the party!

Re: More book news
I'll definitely get one on order.
I have at least two of Tony's books in case one of them helps you with the other name.
"The Bass Book"
Tony Bacon & Barry Moorhouse
Balafon Books
International Music Publications (IMP)
"The Rickenbacker Book"
Tony Bacon & Paul Day
Balafon Books
International Music Publications (IMP)
Both were "British" books from 1995 with the selling price in pounds.

Well done Paul. Really looking forward to getting it.
It's already available for pre-order on Amazon UK, really nice to see it's getting an international distribution.
