Thanks, everyone!
On the eve of my book reaching the ultimate customers – you – I want to post a big THANK YOU to all the "bass people" here on the RRF. This book truly is a labor of love and is just as much a product of this Forum as it is of my pen . . . er, keyboard. It was here, back in 2003, where I was first introduced to the membership at large, and many of you in person later on. Most of the information conveyed in the book came from discussions and experiences with this large "panel of experts," and the notion of the book came to me when I whispered to myself, "someone should write all of this down." So I did.
But I'm not the expert here; it is the accumulation of your knowledge and experiences with Rickenbacker basses that made the book possible. So whether I've pestered you for endless obscure information, or simply asked your permission to photograph one of your Rick basses, each of you played a part. And I've said so in the Acknowledgments section of the book (below). I always enjoy looking through the acknowledgments in a book to see how many people I know. I think all of you will find many of the folks listed are people you know or have corresponded with on this Forum. I hope I've included everyone who helped (even if just a little), and apologize if I've missed anyone. (I've also thanked the folks at RIC, the publishing team at Hal Leonard Books, and fact checkers Jeff Scott and John Biscuti in separate paragraphs.)
"Collectors and experts were also instrumental (pun intended) in ensuring the usefulness of this book. Principally, participants of the Rick Resource Forum lent their considerable knowledge to this author. My thanks go especially to Katie Adams, John Alekna, John Allgaier, Brenda Almond, Mark Arnquist, Scott Baillie, Chris Becker, Richard Bengston, Howard Bishop, Jim Blake, Larry Bolt, Jim Boyle, Tim Bugbee, Dick Burke, Al Cisneros, Gary Clauson, Chris Clayton of Pick of the Ricks, Eileen Colton, Steve Cooper, Brian Crisman, Tony D’Amico, Joseph Deas of Olivia’s Vintage, Susan Daley, Chris Dekker, Marlon Deppen, Frank Paul DiCamillo, Scott Doseck, Tony Dudzik of Pickguardian, Ken Earnest, Steven Fant, Tony Felgueiras Photography, Fran Festa, Dave Fisher, Dale Bruce Fortune, Jim Glen, Charley Goehring, Graham Griffiths, Mike Gutierrez, Gary Hahlbeck of North Coast Music, Lindsay Hahn, Chris Harris, Hasbro, Inc., Randy Hawkins, Joe Hayes, Bert Heitling, Don Henderson, Bill Henshell, Heritage Auction Galleries, Ed Hoffer, Gareth Holder, Sheree Homer, Amy Humphrey, Terry Hungerford, International Vintage Guitars, Steve Jennings, CJ Johansson, Ken Joseph, Jerry Juden, Oyama Katsuyuki, Robin Kauffman, Eduardo Kelerstein, Graham King, James Kirkland, John H. It had to be someone and it is usually me. It looks like I missed being missed..kiramdear wrote:No hard feelings. Mistakes happen.Do I still get my complimentary copy?

Re: Thanks, everyone!
Kira, you, and those whose photos made the cut, should be receiving a comp copy direct from the publisher. I would imagine they send them at the same time as the rest of the books go out, but I don't know their system. I'm sorry that the copies weren't routed through me so that I could add a personal note.kiramdear wrote:No hard feelings. Mistakes happen.Do I still get my complimentary copy?

Re: Thanks, everyone!
Paul,
Ultimately the thanks goes to you. While you stated a large portion of the info came from the members here, it was you that tabulated, sorted it, and put it all in one place. In the short span that I have been here, I've learned so much about the Rickenbacker 4000 series of instruments. There is a huge talent pool here and I'm grateful for it. From the individual members that make this list so great to the RIC CEO that constantly visits here and posts, if you stay here long enough and have the desire, you can't help become better versed in our favorite instruments.
I sincerely tank you for putting together this massive effort. I hope it is profitable for you! I can't wait to get my copy from Amazon!

Thanks to you for bringing this book to the real world!
It is a real boon for all bassist, even the ones who don't yet know that a Rick bass is in their future.

Re: Thanks, everyone!
Great achievement Paul. Very well done. Looking forward to read it.
Congrats!!

Re: Thanks, everyone!
Mine arrived today. It's a beautifully produced book - my hat's off to you, Paul (and, of course, to all your contributors!)
I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with it over the next few weeks.
