New Rick 12-strings

Hi, everyone:

There hasn't been a new topic in a while. So here goes:

I own a Roger McGuinn signature 12-string, 370-RM, which was made in 1989-90. Has anyone here on the forum bought a more recent Rick 12-string?

If so, how does it sound-- compared to older models? If I were to sell my McGuinn model and buy a new Rick 12-string, would it still "chime" with that classic sound? AND-- are the electronics any better?

Hi Karl, I have a 2009 360/12 that I have used on all my recordings (that feature electric 12 string). I love that guitar. Having said that, why sell the McGuinn? Are you gonna kick yourself 6 months after you sell?

My advice is to hang on to the 370/12 RM, unless it's in such bad shape that you think a new Ric with a full warranty would be an upgrade. If you sell it to invest in a new guitar, you'll lose money and end up with a guitar that can't possibly sound better.

Does your 370/12RM have the onboard compressor?

If it does and it has a fresh 9 Volt battery installed, it should be one of the best sounding Ricks ever made.

If you wanted to improve the sound, then a newer 12 string should have the scatter wound toasters installed.
That ,and a Janglebox will deliver the tone, and be just a bit more versatile-in that when shifting from unboosted to boosted, there isn't the same volume drop.
Nowadays for performing, I prefer my 660-12 with JB, to the 370-12 RM.
Even so, I have no desire to sell it.

I have a 2009 360/12 with the 7.5 scatterwounds and it has a killer tone in the studio and live as well. Use the tomisick flatwounds on it and a silver jangle box. The sound cant be beat. Gary
