Why Trouble Finding A New 325 Miami?
I went to all the Rickenbacker dealer sites...no luck at all finding a new 325 Miami.
My question is not so much why, but more how things work. Is that 325 model awaiting a production run? If so, when are the 325s going to be manufactured and shipped to dealers? Is this complete lack of any new models a sign of one of those dreaded years-long waits?

You mean a nice little band that broke up way back in 1970 is affecting production of a guitar in the year 2013?!?jdogric12 wrote:Because Beatles.

Hard to wrap your mind around, isn't it? Check out BeatGear Cavern if you want to see some real obsession.Tommy wrote:You mean a nice little band that broke up way back in 1970 is affecting production of a guitar in the year 2013?!?jdogric12 wrote:Because Beatles.

I am a member there. I am Beatle obsessed, but some on that site take obsession to the point where electro-shock therapy may be necessary.jdogric12 wrote:Check out BeatGear Cavern if you want to see some real obsession.
In all honesty it is the Beatle fanatic that has hurt the 325. One can no longer buy a simple 325. One must now buy one that is more or less Lennon spec (the Miami) and with that comes a far higher price. At least a 12 string Ric can still be purchased in a standard form along with a George form. Not the 325. Lennon model or nothing else.
Re: Why Trouble Finding A New 325 Miami?
Quite the opposite is true. The demand for 3/4 scale guitars of any type is close to nil, so if Beatles fans didn't still order this guitar in some quantity, there would be no 325's of any type.Tommy wrote:In all honesty it is the Beatle fanatic that has hurt the 325. Of course, the 350V63 is available and pretty much a plain Jane full scale version of the 325. I think most people would rather put any "accommodation effort" toward going to full scale rather than short.

Both of them, 350V63 and 325C64 are beautiful guitars.
I had both of them, the 325C64 still is with me, they sound completely different !

Re: Why Trouble Finding A New 325 Miami?
Thanks, folks. Appreciate the tips but I won't buy used. Number of reasons why, but the main one is the pricing on many used models I see is merely two or three hundred dollars off a brand new one! Why not just save that two hundred dollars more and buy an immaculate, perfect guitar that would still be under a warranty if anything does go wrong?
Good news is I have found out that the 325 Miami model is supposed to have another production run in late December of this year. Hope I can get one of those.

Re: Why Trouble Finding A New 325 Miami?
Totally understand ... and besides, that "new Rickenbacker smell" is hard to duplicate with a used guitar
Re: Why Trouble Finding A New 325 Miami?
Yeah, the new guitar smell is always a rush.
Pricing aside, main reason why I won't buy a used guitar is some loony metaphysical philosophy I have that somewhere in this world a tree has grown, the lumber made from that tree, a guitar shaped from that lumber, parts put on...all so it would end up in my hands. A particular guitar comes into existence for one purpose: so that it will one day be in my hands. That guitar's reason for existing is so that I will buy it and play it. A fated relationship. It belongs to me as much as I belong to it. A bond pre-destined long before either of us were even born.
