My return to the Rick

Post by wings012345 »

Just bought this off of ebay. It was listed as Azure Glo, But I'm thinking its really midnight blue? 1986 lefty. How rare is this bass being it's a lefty with Black trim. I dig the color scheme.

AzureGlo seems to have ended in 1985, with MidnightBlue starting that same year. So yours is probably MidnightBlue, but of course, we all know there are no absolutes. It looks more like MidBlue to me than Azureglo. Does it have a metallic finish? Kinda looks like it. If so it's definitely MidBlue.

Yeah, blue with the black trim looks fantastic! Congrats!

Nice bass!!! Congrats!!!

I had been watching this one on Ebay. You got it from someone in San Diego....right???? If it's the person I'm thinking it is.....
He seems to find A LOT of Lefty Rick basses. He recently had a 4001v63 from '91...AND, a 4001v63 PMC among others!!!!

Nice score!!!!!

Yes that is the guy. I paid more than i ever thought I would for a bass. Prob did pay a too much. 2890. But Leftys are soo hard to come by. Ricks are prob one of the most expensive basses. But they seem to be an investment and hold there value and go up.

Disagree with point #1 - quite a few boutique basses can be far more pricey. :)

Point #2 is usually a safe bet.

Congrats - it does look dead mint. :)

Definitely Midnight Blue. When introduced in 1985, MID came standard with black binding, trim, and hardware. As with any model, not many lefties to be found. Congrats and welcome back!

Nice Ric! That dude in San Diego really gets his hands on a lot of Rics, would love to hook up with him as we travel to SD a couple times a year. He had a few nice Ruby Red ones not long ago. Enjoy the axe! :D

Ah, yes the San Diego guy with the basses grazing on the grass. Nice bass.
Interestingly, I was looking at the '77 'Starr Stowe Azureglo' bass pic last night. I was looking at that blue bass.....and then those blue shoes....

Thats the guy i bought it off of. All the nice lawn shots. He sure has connections. I originally was battling for the really nice 1980 lefty Fireglow on ebay last week. But I was outbid at 3,300. She was beauty.
