Did anyone else ever daydream-up something like this?

Post by bigbajo60 »

I remember imagining a configuration like this (forgive the crude mockup) when I was a 17 year old kid coming up with all sorts of "dream customizations" while holding my brand new "First Rick"!

Am I the only one to have ever thought about gluing two treble-side wings to a Rick neck?

With a 30" scale, that would be a COOL bass! Reminds me of an old Hamer.

And a paddle style headstock if it's 30".

"When I was a child, I spoke like a child….." Heard that someplace good!

Well…I've seen worse, just not feeling it at the moment. Go find a faker and start hacking!

Strap balance would be way off.

Yup, that's why I suggested the 30" scale. It may not be perfect but it'll help! Most of my basses are hopessly neck heavy anyway so I may be numb to it at this point. :)

Mike Rutherford had a similar idea for a symmetric body shape without the elongated upper horn. His solution to the neck dive: strap button on the lower horn. The downside is limited access to the higher frets.

Somewhere, Dane Wilder is taking notes! LOL. And, when revision two of 'the book' is printed, we'll see it.

Kind of looks like an Alembic. You know, like Greg Lake used in the 70's.
