Metallic candy orange 4003

Post by jps »

It sure looked like that at my local SA, what say yee? I didn't bring it down from the wall, I suppose it could be the newer lighter Ruby but in the flourescent lighting of the store a cool orange color was quite prominent.

Even a cell phone pic would suffice ;)

Most of them you can't even get film for, anymore!

I can't see being allowed to take photos in a big box store, either! We are in the midst of a major snow storm; once things subside I will try to get back there. If it, in fact, is not Ruby but something special, perhaps it will come home with me. If the price is not out of line.

I think what I saw was a Ruby, maybe but it would be a very lightly shaded one, if so; the mercury vapor (or whatever lights they have in the ceiling) may have been playing tricks with the metallic in the paint. It was very high up on the wall where the lighting makes the finishes look a bit different. I do plan to investigate, weather permitting.

IIRC, there was an orange/copper 4003 (or 4001) refinish floating around on eBay way back when.

Jeff, do you remember whether the one at Sam Ash had full-width inllays? The one on eBay didn't.

What was the one-off custom RIC made a while ago, a bass or a guitar, I don't recall?

The one in question is a brand new instrument with modern FWI.

Then it isn't the one I was thinking of, as that one predated by years the RIC one-off (I don't remember its model, either).
