Petition for Release of Beatles "Let it Be" in DVD format

Post by 8mileshigher »

I don't know what good any such petition will do, but for the benefit of Beatles fans worldwide seeking digital release of the acclaimed Beatles film "Let it Be" there is a website dedicated to that cause:

Wonder if the reason LIB has not been released by Apple Films, (since the VHS format days) is that, perhaps, maybe the surviving former Beatles aren't happy with the way they might have been portrayed or perceived in the film ? Of course there have been excerpts from LIB released in various media, such as videos of Get Back and Don't Let Me Down from the Rooftop concert and also the Beatles Anthology film had a segment on the Rooftop concert included.

And many bootlegged copies in DVD format are out there, since Apple has not released an "official" version.

I would sure love to see "Let It Be" out on DVD and/or Blu Ray. I'm sure it would be a great seller. It's unfortunate that the two surviving band members allegedley are not not in favor of the film being released.

I am guessing that both Yoko and Paul are not happy with the way they appear at times. There is the infamous disagreement between Paul and George for instance. Some years ago, I remember a big media play that it was coming out, then all of a sudden nothing (so it was nixed by someone). It may not see the light of day again until certain people are no longer with us.

Actually the story from a very good source that I have says Olivia Harrison is the holdout in regard to releasing LET IT BE on DVD and Bluray. It seems that George was very unhappy with the whole LET IT BE period, and Olivia is standing by George's wishes in not issuing it out! Revisionist history here perhaps? Seems very odd that after all that time when George was still alive that he didn't get over that seemingly "difficult" period from 1969. My author friend Belmo (of Belmo's Beatleg News fame) spoke a few years back with Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the director of LET IT BE and said the entire film has been remastered and expanded for DVD and Bluray and is set to go, but until approval from Paul, Ringo, Yoko, and Olivia happens it is on permanent hold! We can only hope that Olivia and the rest come to their senses eventually!!!!!!!!
