So I was going through my shelves and noticed my old Rockman X100 sitting in the back. I decided to try it out again. I had it since it first came out and always thought it had a great clean sound. So I put in fresh batteries (I lost the proprietary pose supply a long time ago) cleaned the switches and plugged in my 660/12. I have to say the compression and eq on the Rockman was voiced just right, the 12 string sounded great. Ran it through a few amp sims in Logic X to get some different sounds and with a minimal amount of futzing, it still sounded great.
This kind of makes me want to hunt down those old Rockman modules from the 80's. I heard from previous owners that the compression units were great.
So if you bought a Rockman back in the day and still have it, try it out with your Rick 12. It might make your Jangle box jealous

Rockman pedals are nothing to sneeze at! Our own Mitch Easter mentioned that Peter Buck used a Rockman Chorus and Sustainer on some of the early R.E.M. records. On the 1985 live German Rockpalast footage, a chorus pedal can be heard throughout, probably the Rockman. He even uses the chorus pedal on the one 12-string song in the concert: "So. Central Rain." Likewise with the 1985 Raleigh, NC live stuff. You can hear that chorus in conjunction with Peter's 360/12 on "Talk About the Passion," "Good Advices," and "So. Central Rain." If the Rockman chorus pedal is anything to judge by, the compressor you're talking about should be superb, although I doubt it would give the JangleBox a run for the money.

Going to have to disagree. The Janglebox (which I own and use) is a fine pedal. I just don't think they are the be all and end all. When I ran my Rick throughout the Rockman X100 I had compression with a more manageable EQ curve that didn't take my head off. Let me put it another way, if a Rockman Sustainor or Compressor module became available I would probably use my Janglebox as trade fodder.Folkie wrote:Rockman pedals are nothing to sneeze at!
