hi,
why Japan ?

why not USA or South Korea or China ?

it's going to cost you an arm and a leg no matter where it is shipped from.

Except that USA dealers can't ship to Europe...

And, Japan has some special colors that aren't available anywhere else...

Maybe that's "Why Japan"...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Yes, thats the reason, As in my first post described.

It was always my dream to own a rickenbacker 360 in white with white bindings and gold pickguard, as Per Gessle of Roxette used it in the "Joyride" musicvideo.
Now they've made some for the japanese market... It's like a dream come true.

I finally found an store in japan which ships to germany, now I have to wait about 8 weeks, because of this stupid german duty. :(

In fact the guitar I've ordered now (360-6) is cheaper (including shipping and taxes) than I would buy a regular 360 in a german store today.
Rickenbacker guitars are approx 25% more expensive in germany than in the USA. It's like our german "duesenberg" guitars. They're much more expensive in the US than in germany.

And, most of those Duesenberg instruments are made in Korea, IIRC, at least the ones I were looking at. :(

I didn't know that... I'm very dissapointed of them... :(

I thought about it to buy a red mike campell in the past...
But now I have to think about it seriously... I don't like such a company policy!

They have their German made instruments but they also do SE Asian built ones, too. Like most instrument makers, these days. Rickenbacker is in very elite company. :D

the Chinese and the South Koreans are making excellent quality instruments, I have no problem with them, in fact I have two, a Vantage acoustic with cutaway like a Gibson ES-375 which plays and sounds wonderful, made in Korea. I cannot find much information about Vantage online, but the quality of the guitar is incredible. The other one is a Classic Vibe Telecaster made in China, amazing quality too. No wonder Fender went to China and Gibson is having Epiphones made in Korea.

It's no matter of quality. I think too that the korean or chinese instruments could be very good.
But the working conditions in therse countries can be very bad. I don't want to support exploiting people in these countries with a guitar which costs a lot of money.
