Hi Gain Pickups Question

Post by Folkie »

Does anyone know if the 1991 hi gain pickups have the same output as the current ones?

Do you mean output as in the millivoltage of a signal when played, either single string or strummed full chords, or do you mean what mistakenly is called output which is the relative amount of wire that is wound on the bobbins giving a particular DC resistance figure when measured without exciting the magnetic field, or do you mean the relative inductance of the pickup measured in henrys as the coil interacts with the magnet?

I believe we're talking about the second. Someone posted a wanted ad on the Rickenbacker Marketplace for a set of hi gain pickups. He specified that:

"Color doesn't matter so much - mostly concerned that they have the same or similar output as the more recent versions."

I have no way of measuring the pickup specs, hence my question. I'm sorry if I (and the guy who posted the ad) used the wrong terminology.
