Winfield Accent Vibrato on Rick 330/6

Post by akpasta »

Hey All,

I've been looking for an excuse to sell my Fender Jaguar. I prefer my Rick 330/6 for many reasons, but the one thing it CANT do is vibrato. So I bought a Winfield Accent Vibrato. The product from Winfield is made really well and looks good, and installs on my guitar just fine, but I just think I kind of don't like it.

Maybe I'm missing something but here's the issues I'm having:

1. It tweaks the bridge forward every time you use it, which seems like over time will damage the bridge height screws/plate it (if it hasn't already).
2. It doesn't have a very profound vibrato effect. I'm not trying to dive bomb, but it really is just a bit of an accent.
3. You can't put the guitar back in the case with the arm on, but you also can't easily remove the vibrato arm!

It does stay in tune fairly well so thats a bonus I suppose.

I dunno, maybe it's just not for me. What feedback do you all have about it?

You probably don’t really want more expense but a Mastery M5 bridge is a good pairing for the Accent vibrato and as for the vibrato arm a Ric vintage style case gives you a bit more room to play with, when I had an accent fitted to my 350v63 all you had to do was pull the arm up over the body to close the case if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the tips. I definitely do not want more expense. Also I need a case that can fly, and vintage style case is definitely not that. So I'll probably be converting back. Anyone want a good deal on a very lightly used RH Winfield Accent Vibrato (R-piece adapter style)?

Hey, there. If the price is right, I might be interested in your Winfield Accent. Let me know. I have a Carl Wilson 360/6 with an R tailpiece and a 350v63 with trapeze that might be in need of a vibrola.
