Dave Grohl & Lemmy

Post by marty »

I caught a glimpse of the Dave Grohl and Lemmy video on MTV UK today....Lemmy was playing one of his older rics.

I think it was one he had modified with a humbucker at the neck position....I'm not sure if it was the one he used to use a lot in the 80's....the one with the modified knobs. ( I saw him using one once minus the truss rod cover with a string retainer in place and bits of tape stuck across one end of the pickguard!)

Anyway,It was a great sounding track .....hopefully it will be getting a fair bit of play....it's always great to see and hear a Rickenbacker in action.

I recall Lemmy saying in an interview he installed a Thunderbird pick up in that one (at the neck position). He claimed it became 'thunderous', and somehow I believe him ;-)
Great sound!

I believe it's 3 pickups with a 4001/4003 treble pickup cover/surround which Lemmy is so used to.Image
