Hi everybody
Just stumbled across this site whilst searchin the net for a 4003s/5 Ricky. I hadn't realised they were discontinued, shows how little info we get over here in the UK! lol. If anybody knows where to find one..................
Anyhow, interesting to see your stance on fake Ricks, keep up the good work of shopping the cloners. I have been a Rick fake victim, in my non Ricky know days I bought what I thought was the real deal only to find it was an Ibanez badged and wired up as a Rick. Cheesed off? Yes!, but I couldn't sell it to another bass player as a real cos I ain't like that! The damn thing didn't realise what hard gigging was until I found out I was cheated!! Damn you Ibanez!!!

Welcome Nelly. There are 4003S5's to be found out there and you may get a lead here.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Neil,
Note that 2 of those are conversions Jeff has done, and quite well I might add. They play and sound great! I am the owner of another of his 5-string conversions, a P-bass, and it is great for those of us who like the tight string spacing and fretboards that aren't like runways!

For me the perfect 5 string bass is 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" at the nut and 2 3/8" to 2 1/2" at the bridge ...
The 4003s5 is 2 1/4" or 2 1/16" at the bridge and my 2030 and 4004L conversions are 2 3/8" at the bridge ...
My p-bass and jazz bass conversions are usually 2 1/2" at the bridge and 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" at the nut ...
A lot of 5 string basses are like 2" at the nut and 2 3/4" to 3" at the bridge ... this makes for a fret board that your kids could play soccer on ...
If I could get a good source for 5 pole high gain pickups and a five saddle ric bridge I could convert a bunch of 4003 basses into 5 string models ...
