New Models On The Horizon?

Post by admin »

This question is for John Hall. I am wondering whether RIC has recently considered the introduction of a new design, either for the guitar or bass line. I realize that it is not possible to keep up with current offerings, however, I am curious about any plans RIC may have for a new model in the future.

Are there or have there been any new designs in the works on which you can make comment?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Sorry to eavesdrop, Peter, but didn't Mr. Hall make some cryptic comment to this effect about a year ago? I've forgotten the exact context, but someone had asked about new things at Rickenbacker and he replied along the lines of, "We'll get the C series out then we have something special in mind". Don't know, maybe he was talking about switching his car insurance.

I would have answered Peter's question but Chris's cynical comment made me decide not to.

Sorry if I don't have a sense of humor on this point. I really don't understand why everyone picks on the Japanese, when in fact, they're usually the first to put their money where their mouth is, supporting new projects such that they're economically viable for everyone.

We actually placed a limit on foreign sales quite awhile ago in order to assure North America of at least a fair amount of goods.

Jeeze - don't you guys know that Mr. Hall reads this?
That's the NUMBER ONE cool thing about this forum.
Now we may never know....

Don't worry Spencer, you'll know when it arrives ;-)

I understand John Hall in a way; I run a (small) business myself and often people come in asking something I haven't got.
The first time this happened I went out and got what they asked, well I'm sorry I did that; they never showed up again.
It didn't happen twice, if they want something I haven't got; put some money down and I'll order or make it right away.
That's the way it works these days.
No car salesman, for instance, will order your pink Mercedes (that one you dreamt of all your life) without you doing an advanced payment.
Another thing I learned is never to mention there is a new delivery coming in. First sell off the stock
(I'm in the jewelry business btw)
People and friends constantly have brilliant ideas how I should run my business and what I should make you know... Me, I try to make a living.

I guess the same rules apply to what is in our eyes the Magical Rickenbacker Factory

Actually, I was aiming lower for Jerry and higher for Chris. But it's obvious I missed Jerry altogether and it remains to be seen for Chris.

Wim, over here you'd get a pink Mercedes faster than a RIC Resource Edition bass. (You just reminded me of my days working in the Amsterdam diamond bourse . . .)

Didn't Jerry get "hit" not to long ago?

I don't understand. Mr. Hall, was your intent to get me off the forum or stop my playing your company's guitars? The guitars make for some pretty pictures on my website, but I'll take em off if my ownership of them offends you. I've stopped making jokes on the forum, which is what p'ed you off about me.

"Forum (n) A medium for open discussion".

I didn't feel Chris' comment was anti-Japanese, just frustration. But it was kind of you to zing him publicly instead of by email.

If you mean what I think you mean by aiming lower at me, though they're too big a target to miss, they are made out of kevlar.

It is none of my buisness what anyone's opinion is of me.

Whoa!! I didn't think I'd cause such a stir!

Mr.Hall, my comment wasn't anti-Japanese at all! It was merely a bit of frustration at your "dream on" comments made earlier. We sit here and look at those Japanese market only RICS and drool and you make a comment like that.....geesh!! I don't know, maybe a little frustration is in order!! I just don't understand why some of those JM basses won't make it to OUR market.....I mean, isn't the U.S.market just a tad larger than Japans?....

I didn't MEAN to be cynical, I guess it just came across that way....I was only referring to Mr.Halls previous comment.

I just want a "V68", if it is ever produced....I will be first in line , Mr.Hall....

We had a forum here in southeast Michigan for musicians ... it was pretty cool for the most part but it got mean and insulting and finally got shut down ...

Now I'm not making any accusations or pointing any fingers ... I am simply making a comment ...
