Not a good thing

Post by shamustwin »

so about a month ago I gave my 4005 to my nephew, a flegling bassist into punk pop (he's 14). I go to visit yesterday, and he's cut off the cresting wave on the headstock! Plus, he's painted it black with a brush no less! Now he wants to install some "cooler looking" pick ups! Tragedy! I should have issued a disclaimer when I gave it to him. I briefed on the rarity of it and the respect that should be affored it. To no avail. Alas!

Jerry,
I can only hope this is an April Fool's post.
If not my condolences for having an April Fool for a nephew.

since it is April 1st ... I must tell all of you that I will be selling my '68 4001 as soon as I get a bad *** bridge on it and put in a couple of p-bass active pickups ... I can't wait to fire up my router ... oh hell I'll just chisel out the wood with a big old screw driver and hammer ... I bet a Gibson EB0 pickup would look nice on that sucker as well ... And while I'm at it ... I think I'll make it a 6 stringer ... and that damn fireglo finish has to go ... I bet flat black would be cool

I just sold my '67 4005WB for twice what I paid for it! Don't you guys agree that $350.00 is a lot to get for such an old used bass? Who wants these old relics anyway, when you can get a spanking new foreign made bass for that kind of money with shiny gold parts and sizzling hot electronics?
