I didn't know turquoise was available in 1976. It looks very nice, but I'd be afraid of the neck being weakened either of the two times it was sanded down.

The stability of the neck wouldn't be affected by a refinish, and you are correct, turquoise wasn't an option in 76.

I believe the option for turquoise ran from 1991 to 2003,so you are right to say it wasn't available in '76.

The sellers says turquoise was chosen because he 'was told' that was the first year it was used.
