Buzz problem in 4003

Post by Brian_Dorbuck »

Hi,

I have a very noticeable buzz that comes from my '88 4003. I can touch one of the pickup mounting screws and the buzz disappears. Can someone guide me through a "self-fix" ?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Obviosly your pickup's ground isn't attached correctly. Since you wrote this in March and this is now May, you've probably figured this out by now. But if you have not, and I'm figuring you're talking about the treble pickup, the screw you are talking about is supposed to be hooked up to a small ground wire. Either someone was tinkering with this pickup before, or the previous owner(s) sweat from his/her hand (and I've seen that happen) ate away at that ground. So, check that ground wire and if is really bad, please leave it to a professional.
