My Rickenfaker project

This is the beginning. I intend to document with photos the transformation of what started out as a Univox or Ibanez copy into something that will look,smell and taste like a customized 4000 bass, but can never actually be one.

When completed, it will be sea foam green, have gold pickguard and blank truss cover along with a horseshoe pickup and black hardware. There is even a possiblity of checkerboard binding.

Looks like a great beginning, Marc! I'm looking forward to seeing the sea foam green finish.

And as for the checkerboard binding....

Yes, one of the forum members had told me they could help me get some. I e-mailed but, haven't heard back from them yet.

I'll definately "Do it" as long as I can get the binding.

Hey, Marc. Great project. I certainly am looking forward to seeing it completed. Will you be installing an original or a re-issue horseshoe p.u. on it?

since it is a faker he should put in real big active soapbars and an 18 volt preamp ...

Sergio, I'm going to keep on top of Lollar to see when his will be ready.The Luthier said he could actually make one but that he was familiar with Lollar and thought his might be more accurate.

Speaking of accurate, I was just informed that I will be receiving the needed checkerboard binding.

Jeff, I'm not a big fan of preamps. That's why I sold off my Sting Rays.As far as soap bars, I want it to look,smell and taste like a Ric with less calories.

No, he should install a custom-made pickup instead, something really hot and nasty to turn that Rickenfaker into an instant attention-grabber.

My above post was in reply to Jeff's, actually. Yes, I'm sure Jason is your best bet if you're also looking for design accuracy in the pickup for your project.
